About me

My goal as a scientist is to enhance the lives of the animals in our care through data-driven science and ethical considerations. I am incredibly interested in improvements that can be applied on a large scale. I earned a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Biology from DePaul University. After graduating from DePaul, I gained extensive experience working with zoo animals at multiple institutions. I recently earned a Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My dissertation focused on evaluating the merits and pitfalls of tail docking sheep. Currently, I am a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, focusing on validating metrics to assess the welfare of black soldier flies. I draw on a wide range of disciplines to approach animal welfare and behavior questions holistically.
